I want to report a recurrent error that I keep having in Android Studio as simulator with React Native. Now, I don't know if this is a problem with Android Studio or actually React Native. I'd like to point out that I had A LOT of problems in actually getting ANY React Native version running on my Linux distro. From KVM permissions, to apparently conflicting dependencies. The only way that I found to actually run the React Native server is through the following JSON:
"start": "node node_modules/react-native/local-cli/cli.js start",
After running it my problem begun whenever I had any type of compilation error in my code. Ranging from logic errors to syntatic ones. What would happen is: AFTER I fixed the error (e.g Unexpected character) when compiling into the simulator the server was still trying to run the code with an error somehow (cache maybe?). And it got to a point where my already slow debug process due to natural App development problems (long loads etc) got impossible. That is when I reached to Stack Overflow. What happened was the following: I had a typo (missed the closing ")" ) and the compiler was not only NOT reporting it as a compilation error but rather compiling and not applying my styles in a component. Only after I restarted EVERYTHING I received a compilation error, after fixing the error line my styles got applied properly. (After 2 restarts because in the first, my app was still trying to run the code with an error even after I had updated and saved the file!!!!)
My SO topic on the issue: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52770755/styles-are-not-being-applied-to-children-props/52785259#52785259
Any support is GREATLY appreciated!
